We’re truly the best of the best of German Shepherd Breeders in Hawaii

Our commitment to importing German Shepherd dams and sires from Germany with exceptional bloodlines, following an extensive socialization curriculum and comprehensive health testing is just the beginning.

our puppies grow up at home, not a kennel

In their crucial developmental phases, our puppies are immersed in a home environment, encountering everyday sounds, authentic scents, and the constant presence of playful children.

We strongly emphasize this early socialization as it plays a vital role in shaping our German Shepherd puppies into the happiest, healthiest, and most well-adjusted companions in Hawaii.

Ethical Breeding

The four Cornerstones of our program

As ethical and responsible German Shepherd breeders, we prioritize the health of our puppies over profit.

To ensure this, we conduct health screenings on our breeding dogs, select dogs with great temperaments, expose puppies to a variety of experiences through Puppy Culture’s socialization curriculum to give the perfect head start to lead fulfilling lives as loyal companions.

Health Testing

We use health testing such as OFA screenings for Hip Dysplasia and DNA testing to improve the overall health and well-being of the breed, and to produce puppies that are less likely to develop genetic health issues.

Temperament

Temperament in a dog refers to its behavior and personality traits. We breed specifically for excellent demeanor and a sound mind in order produce puppies that are well-behaved, easy to train, and suitable for family life.

Socialization

Proper socialization during the critical period of a puppy's life (between 3-14 weeks) can have a significant impact on their temperament and behavior for the rest of their life.

bloodlines

The bloodlines of German Shepherd puppies are important in choosing a puppy because they can give an indication of the puppy's potential temperament, health, and working ability, based on the traits inherited from its ancestors

We follow the German tradition of giving pedigree names for our puppiesSo “A litter” was our very first Litter, and so on. Most puppy parents do choose their own names for their puppy and that’s totally good with us!

Aloha! We're Jess & Damian

We started breeding GSDs here in Hawaii several years ago because we simply couldn’t find a reputable breeder with stable dogs and health testing on the islands. So we contacted Damian’s family connections from the days when his family bred GSDs in Poland and we brought in our first dogs with amazing champion lineages from Germany.

Our puppies grow up on our property with our young daughters with constant socialization. We prioritize temperament: instability, reactivity and aggression are not tolerated over here!

FAQs

Our puppies are ready to go to their new homes at around 8 weeks old. We believe that this is the optimal time for them to transition to their new families and begin their training and socialization.

At this age, they have received their first round of vaccinations, have already been microchipped and have been regularly dewormed and vet checked.

We provide our new puppy families with a puppy goodie bag and a book full of information on how to continue their care and training at home.

In Hawaii, a German Shepherd puppy from a reputable breeder typically costs between $4000 and $6000.

Our puppies are priced at $4500, plus GET taxes. A $500 deposit reserves your spot, with the balance due at pickup. This deposit is fully refundable if you change your mind before the puppies are born.

This price reflects our investment in breeding well-bred puppies, including health testing, proper nutrition, early socialization, and training while still understanding that Hawaii is an expensive place to live, we try to make our pups as affordable as we can. Payment plans are available if need be.

Importing a dog into Hawaii involves strict quarantine regulations and vaccinations.

The quality of our breeding program and the health and socialization of our puppies make it worth the investment. Our breeding dogs are health tested, come from champion bloodlines, and are raised in a nurturing environment.

Additionally, our puppies are the only GSD puppies on the island raised following the Puppy Culture socialization program, ensuring confident and well-socialized puppies.

Our puppies come with a health guarantee, first set of vaccinations, microchip, deworming, a go-home bag with goodies, and a puppy packet with care information.

To reserve a puppy, we require a deposit of $500 and completed application. You can submit a Puppy Application Here.

Once we review your application, we’ll confirm your reservation and keep you updated on milestone events throughout the process.

If you’re not comfortable submitting an application yet, you can schedule a meeting with us to learn more about our breeding program and ask any questions you might have.

Backyard breeders may offer cheaper puppies initially, but in the long run, most other “breeders” lack health testing, proper socialization, and irresponsible breeding practices which can result in puppies with serious health and behavioral issues.

These issues can lead to costly vet bills, behavioral rehabilitation, and heartache for the families who adopt them.

Even AKC papers have absolutely no bearing to how well-bred the dog is: there are no health testing or ethical requirements to becoming an AKC registered breeder.

As the saying goes, “what is cheap is expensive,” and this is especially true when it comes to choosing a breeder for your puppy that will be a companion for the next 10-14 years.

We truly believe that purchasing a German Shepherd puppy from a responsible breeder who prioritizes the health and well-being of their dogs is a worthwhile investment that will bring you joy and companionship for years to come.

If you have any questions about our breeding program or the cost of our puppies, please don’t hesitate to contact us.

We’re located in Kaneohe on Oahu. Please make an appointment on the Calendar above if you’d like to come visit us!

We’ve been Breeding for 5 years here in Hawaii, but Damian’s family has bred German Shepherds in Poland for much longer.

We specialize in breeding West German Showline German Shepherds, which are widely recognized for their striking appearance, sound temperament, and reliable stability. Our dogs are bred to adhere to the highest standards of health, temperament, and conformation. We believe that by carefully selecting only the finest dogs from Germany, we can produce puppies that grow into amazing companions.

West German Show Line German Shepherds are selectively bred for their physical appearance to meet the standards set by conformation shows, resulting in a more refined look and a calmer temperament.

On the other hand, Working Line German Shepherds are bred for their working abilities, with a focus on high energy levels and a strong drive to perform tasks at all times.

Often Working line German Shepherds require far too much exercise and engagement than a family can provide.

Due to their calm and composed demeanor, Showline German Shepherds are a great match for home life as they have the ability to relax and unwind with their owners.

Yes, we do offer shipping for our puppies to their new homes. We prefer to have our puppies picked up in person whenever possible. If shipping is necessary, we work with Hawaiian Airlines to ensure that your puppy arrives safely and comfortably.

Additional fees will apply for shipping, including the cost of the flight, health certificate, crate, and transportation to the airport. We will provide all the necessary information and support to make the process as easy as possible for you and your new puppy.

Inter-Island shipping costs $300 including flight and kennel for you to keep. Personal delivery is an option for an additional fee.

Yes, we breed both long and short coat German Shepherds. The coat type can be specified in your Puppy Application.

Most litters have 6-8 puppies. However, the exact number of puppies and their genders can vary, as these things are naturally unpredictable. We’ve had as few as one puppy and as many as 12 in a litter.

Yes, we do require a Spay/Neuter Agreement for all of our puppies. We require in our contract that a puppy spayed/neutered between 18-24 months old.

Research has shown that that this is the optimal time to fix a large breed dog to ensure that the puppy has had the chance to fully mature and allow their growth plates to fuse and develop before undergoing the procedure.

We take our responsibility as stewards of the breed seriously and want to do everything in our power to preserve the integrity and health of the German Shepherd breed.

Because there are many unethical backyard breeders that contribute to the health problems of the GSDs on Island, we do require a Spay/Neuter Agreement. In this way, we are doing our part to ensure that our puppies do not contribute to these problems and are only placed in responsible and loving pet or service dog homes. We do not offer breeding rights.

We offer a health guarantee for all of our puppies. Our guarantee is a 2 year health guarantee from the date of purchase.

If a genetic health issue arises during the guarantee period, we will work with you to provide compensation up to the full purchase price or a replacement puppy, depending on the situation.

We take a responsible approach to breeding and only breed our dogs when we believe it is in the best interest of the mama.

We do not have a set breeding schedule, as we prioritize the health and well-being of our dogs and their offspring over the frequency of litters.

We work closely with our vet carefully consider the health, temperament, and conformation of each parent before making the decision to breed.

Oh, so much!

Our puppies receive extensive socialization from a young age. They are exposed to different sights, sounds, textures, and experiences to help them become well-adjusted and confident adults.

They are raised in our home and are regularly handled by us and played with by our children. We also expose them to different environments, such as car rides and outdoor outings, ocean exposure and more to help them learn and adapt.

Additionally, we follow the Puppy Culture program, which provides a structured and comprehensive socialization and training plan for puppies.

Over the years, we’ve learned that the best way to match prospective buyers with a puppy is not to let them choose their own puppy, as this often leads to mismatches. Instead, we use our hundreds of hours spent with the puppies and the Volhard Puppy Aptitude Test to ensure the best possible fit.

We do honor gender preferences and can often accommodate coat length. Otherwise, we use the information from the test to assign puppies, ensuring the best match for each family.

The Volhard Puppy Aptitude Test checks for several important traits in puppies:

1. Social Drive: Measures how friendly and interested a puppy is in interacting with people. A social puppy will enjoy being around and engaging with people.
2. Following Drive: Looks at how willing a puppy is to follow someone. A puppy that follows easily is likely to be more trainable and attentive.
3. Dominance Drive: Tests how a puppy reacts to being handled and controlled. This shows how comfortable and accepting they are of human leadership.
4. Prey Drive: Evaluates the puppy’s interest in chasing and retrieving objects. A strong prey drive indicates a playful and active puppy.
5. Sensitivity: Assesses how a puppy responds to touch, sounds, and sights. This helps determine if they are easygoing or more reactive to their environment.
6. Stability: Measures how well a puppy handles new and unexpected situations. A stable puppy will be less likely to get scared or stressed by new experiences.

These tests help us understand a puppy’s personality and match them with the right family.

Our puppies are almost always reserved before they’re born.

In general, we recommend submitting your puppy application and deposit 6 months before you hope to bring a puppy home.

We totally understand how exciting it is to meet your future puppy! While we’d love to welcome everyone to come visit, we’ve learned the hard way that it’s just not safe for the puppies. Their immune systems are still developing, and unfortunately, when we used to allow visitors, we had a few instances where puppies got sick. So now we’re extra cautious and limit direct contact until they’re ready to go home at 8 weeks.

That said, we want you to feel included every step of the way! That’s exactly why we post frequent updates and videos on Instagram—so you can watch the puppies grow, see their milestones, and feel connected to the litter even from afar. And if you’d like to meet us in person and spend time with the adult dogs, you’re welcome to schedule a meet-and-greet.

  • Intelligent: German Shepherds are highly intelligent and quick learners, making them excellent for training.
  • Loyal: They are known for their loyalty and strong bond with their families.
  • Protective: German Shepherds have a natural protective instinct, making them great guard dogs.
  • Energetic: These dogs are active and require daily exercise and mental stimulation.
  • Versatile: They excel in various roles, including service, therapy, police, and search-and-rescue work.

Yes, German Shepherds can be excellent with children when properly trained and socialized. Their protective nature often extends to their family’s children, creating a safe and loving environment.

Our own kids have played a significant role in handling the puppies we raise. This interaction not only helps socialize the puppies but also creates a strong bond between the kids and the dogs. The puppies get used to being around children, which makes them more adaptable and gentle when they go to their new homes. This early exposure to children ensures that our German Shepherds are well-prepared to be loving and protective companions for families with kids.
